Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) secures the access to your account.

Enabling two-factor authentication

Enabling two-factor authentication can only be done in the postel.bzh web interface. First you need to choose with which app you will get your authentication codes. The postel.bzh app is recommended, but you can also configure an independent 2FA app, such as: FreeOTP (iOS or Android), Authy or LastPass Authenticator (iOS), Authenticator (Windows 10), OTP Manager (MacOS), Gauth or Oathtool (Linux).

  • To enable two-factor authentication using the postel.bzh app:
    • open the app on your smartphone
    • choose "Options" in the menu, then "Authentication code" and get a 6-digit authentication code
    • back in the web interface, copy the code and enter your password
  • To enable two-factor authentication using a 2FA app:
    • open the chosen app on your smartphone
    • scan the QR code displayed on postel.bzh to add your account to your 2FA app
    • get a 6-digit authentication code
    • in the postel.bzh web interface, copy the code and enter your password

When you enable two-factor authentication, you can add your device to the list of trusted devices. No more authentication code will be required on this device.

Using two-factor authentication

When two-factor authentication is enabled, an authentication code is required every time you connect to postel.bzh from a new device. You get this code in the application you have chosen when enabling two-factor authentication.

When you authenticate on a new device, you can add it to the list of trusted devices. No more authentication code will be required on this device.

The list of trusted devices can be seen in the postel.bzh web interface. You can remove a device from this list at any time.

Warning! If you lose or change your smartphone, or if you uninstall the postel.bzh app or your 2FA app, you could be blocked. In that case, go back to the postel.bzh web interface to get an authentication code, to reconfigure a 2FA app or to disable two-factor authentication temporarily.

Disabling two-factor authentication

You can disable two-factor authentication in the postel.bzh web interface.

Connection history

The connection history displays the most recent connections to your postel.bzh account.

If you notice any suspicious connection, especially from an IP address you do not know, change your password immediately.
